The short answer
We repair gas, electric and induction cooktops in Burbank homes, including Viking, Wolf and Thermador models in Sub-Zero kitchens. A technician diagnoses the problem in your kitchen and explains the repair before any work begins.
If a burner on your cooktop won't light, keeps clicking after the flame catches, or an induction zone ignores the pan, we can come to your Burbank home and find out why. We repair the cooktops found in kitchens built around Sub-Zero refrigeration, along with the cooking brands that usually sit beside it: Viking, Wolf and Thermador. Burbank is about 8 miles east of our Van Nuys base, so homes in 91501, 91502, 91504, 91505 and 91506 are a short drive for us. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer.
Gas cooktop problems we fix
Most gas cooktop calls come down to ignition, gas flow or controls. Wolf, Viking and Thermador gas cooktops use sealed burners and electronic spark ignition. That system is reliable, but it is sensitive to moisture, spills and worn parts. A boil-over can soak a burner base and leave an igniter clicking for hours. A cracked igniter or a failing spark module can stop a burner from lighting at all.
Flame quality also tells us a lot. A yellow, lazy or uneven flame usually points to a misaligned burner cap, clogged ports or an air and gas mixture problem. A burner that won't hold a low simmer may need a valve adjustment or a new valve.
- Igniters that click constantly or never spark
- Burners that light, then go out when you let go of the knob
- Weak, yellow or uneven flames
- Simmer settings that run too hot or blow out
- Stiff, loose or broken control knobs and valves

Electric and induction cooktops
Electric radiant cooktops fail in a few predictable places: a heating element burns out, an infinite switch or relay sticks, or a touch control board stops responding. An element that only heats on high, or a zone that stays hot after you switch it off, is usually a control or relay fault rather than the element itself.
Induction cooktops from Wolf, Viking and Thermador add electronics that need careful testing. A zone that doesn't detect cookware, flashes an error code, or shuts off during cooking may have a failed power board, a blocked cooling fan, or an overheating sensor. We check the cookware too, because a pan that isn't magnetic or has a warped base can look like a cooktop fault.
Cracked or chipped glass ceramic tops can often be replaced as a part. Stop using a cracked top until it has been looked at.
Before you schedule a visit
A few quick checks can save time, and sometimes they solve the problem. If you smell gas, don't try to light anything or flip switches. Leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
- Confirm the cooktop has power: check the breaker, and for gas models, that the igniter plug is seated in its outlet
- Make sure burner caps sit flat and centered on their bases
- Let a wet burner dry fully after a spill before trying it again
- Wipe the touch control area on electric and induction models; liquid can lock the controls
- Write down any error code shown on the display
Tell us what your appliance is doing.
How a repair visit works
A technician comes to your Burbank home, asks what you've noticed, and tests the cooktop in place: ignition, gas pressure and flame on gas units, and element, switch and board readings on electric and induction units. Once we find the cause, we explain it in plain terms and tell you what the repair involves before starting.
Many repairs, such as igniters, burner parts, knobs and switches, can be handled during the visit when we have the part. Control boards, valves and glass tops sometimes need to be ordered for your specific model. If so, we schedule a return visit to finish the job. If a repair doesn't make sense for an older unit, we'll say so.
